As a millennial who spent a good portion of my 20’s on OKCupid, I was very delighted for the opportunity to analyze and manipulate a dataset containing nearly 60,000 OKCupid profiles as my machine learning capstone venture. Because my academic background is in linguistics, I was interested to spot if the way that we speak about ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us could be used to predict information like education level, sexuality, or even age. After some deliberation, I decided to break the data down by sexuality. After all, I and most queer people I know have our identities firmly rooted in our queerness, and for superb reason: to date, we still experience housing discrimination.
