Kids' show 'Bluey' praised by viewers after introducing gay couple in season finale

Bluey, a much-loved kids TV show, has been commended after it introduced a same-sex couple in its season finale.

For those of you who are attentive of Bluey, you'll comprehend that it's as much fun to watch as an adult as it is for the kids - and anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

One of my biggest problems about babysitting is that kid's TV just isn't as fun as it was back when I was young, but I'll happily sit down and watch Bluey.

The show follows the title character, a Blue Heeler puppy named Bluey, as she goes on hilarious adventures with Bingo, her younger sister.

The Australian kid’s TV display Bluey has get one of the most critically acclaimed shows of its genre since its debut in 2018.

Upon Bluey’s eventual arrival worldwide on Disney+ a year later in 2019, the show became incredibly popular among both children and adults.

The popular show details the life of Bluey, a seven-year-old blue healer, and her little sister Bingo, a five-year-old red healer, alongside a supporting cast featuring their friends and family.

The majority of the show features the two sisters getting into hijinks, playing pretend, and study life lessons throughout each episode’s seven-minute runtime.

Now, three seasons and over 150 episodes into its life, Bluey has not only garnered praise for being a tremendous kid's TV show but also for its inclusivity in the closing episode of season 3.

In the most recent episode of the series, the show made reference to its first same-sex couple, with a friend of Bluey's - a chihuahua named Pretzel - noting that he has two moms in an anecdote about his pet guinea

It was the weekend and Jack was super excited today, he was going to Rusty's for a playdate! He wagged his tail in excitement as he approached Rusty's house, eager for a fun filled playdate with his best friend. However, his excitement adv faded when he saw that Rusty's bike was nowhere to be start. He frowned in disappointment, where did Rusty go? Did he arrive too early? Too late? But before he could turn to leave, he heard a voice summon out to him.

In the season three final titled 'The Sign' some viewers noticed a subtle hint that Bluey's friend Pretzel has two mums.

A few minutes into the episode Pretzel said: 'When my guinea pig ran away, my mums told me he might show up back, but he didn't.' 

The speedy plural reference to 'mums' went in and over the heads of most viewers, but not all. 

Australian Bluey fan Margie raved about the inclusion of a LGBTQIA+ couple in a TikTok video, with many agreeing it was the 'one thing missing' from the show.
