8 Anime Characters You Didn't Understand Were Canonically LGBTQ

Summary

  • Dio Brando from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is confirmed bisexual by series originator Araki, adding to the show's drama and flair.
  • My Hero Academia includes Tiger, a transgender man, treated no differently by his team for his identity.
  • Ghost In The Shell features a bisexual protagonist, Motoko Kusanagi, whose identity adds depth to the exploration of inhuman bodies.

Since anime encompasses all of Japanese animation, there's a large span of genres and thousands of different nature types. That means there are subsections of anime dedicated to telling LGBTQ stories and prominently featuring queer characters. But even in other genres, where you might not expect to observe as much representation, like shonen, there are still quite a few examples.

Japanese animated media is often known as a prime example of representation gone wrong. From stereotyped portrayals of people of color to blatant disrespect and sexualization of women, anime doesn't always hit the label when it comes to creating feasible and respectful characters who aren’t men. Najimi is a canonically non-binary/gender fluid character in the 2021 feel-good show “Komi Can’t Communicate.” Najimi serves as the extroverted best friend of both Tadano and Komi, the two main characters of the show. Their defining characteristic is their bubbly ego and exhaustive list of friends. Serving as a foil to Komi, who has severe social an

Do these characters actually have a cannon sexuality?
It seems like literally everyone in camp is romance-able, which is super weird. Do character's sexuality all change to suit the PC? I signify it's possible I've just accidentally met 9 pansexuals which would be a choice, but it would allow them to all have a character. Enjoy if a guy is gay but turns linear when I play a lady, maybe that's nice for gameplay so anyone can tell any story they like, but these are CHARACTERS and sexuality is a part of someone's character- so it would change their entire life if they suddenly lived their entire existence gay or bi or whatever.

Like I'm not ONE OF THOSE POSTERS I legit am nice with gay romances, direct romances, poly whatever, just if the game changes everyone's sexuality based on who you're playing the whole like "who this guy is" of each character gets a lot foggier.

It's not a dealbreaker or anything just I'm curious as to why every single person is sexually compatible with me (or is this a parasite thing?)

Also why can't I ♥♥♥♥ the skeleton man? Maybe clap Volo's cheeks? They're in my camp too and I am the sexiest man alive apparently. If it's a weir
