Disclaimer: A "gay bar" is a legal title that can be used for a bar that is exlusively or predominantly frequented by Gay individuals.
On a cold west Texas night, not that long ago, I joined my friends to gather around the warmth of a lighted twirl floor with a mirrored disco ball hanging from above, moving to the tubthumping of a 2000-watt speaker, while drinking in the traditional and not so traditional spirits of the “gay bar”.
The lines between gay and straight nightlife hold maintained a significant split as drawn-out as bars possess existed here in Lubbock. Yes, a gay person does go to a straight bar and vice versa. But living in the second most conservative city in the United States (2006 poll), those that self-identify as queer , lesbian, bisexual, genderqueer, or queer, detect slim pickings these days for an open night on the town.
Anyone looking for a place to gather knows where to go for nightlife to find something different, out of the ordinary, and authentic to themselves. The gay lock is the place to be if you find yourself not fitting in. Straight folx I know, who uncover themselves at the gay bar, are there becaus

49 yo gay guy in West Texas looking for a being partner
Checked this site out years ago, and there were only a couple of posts from gay guys, so looks fond of it has expanded a bit, which is great. Looking for a animation partner. I'm 49, 5'9" 170 lbs, fit, kinda geeky but outdoorsy, somewhat submissive/easy going demeanor. I have an MFA in painting, but have worked in education most of the various jobs I've had. Attracted to most guys with purpose/drive/stability who are fit and who are at least a little more dominate/aggressive than me. There are more than a few guys on this site I find attractive--anyone who uses their body outdoors/has some ruggedness--it's a enormous plus. Age is not a giant issue, but it would be agreeable if you are within 10 years of my age. Most importantly, I've been a pemaculturist in West Texas (Lubbock) for over twenty years, and I'm looking for a partner who has/wants a similar lifestyle, with sustainability/climate change action as a priority. Anyway, I currently live off-grid in the city but have always wanted to build my own off-grid underground home somewhere in the southwest with diggable land appreciate L
