Almond’s flair for pop melodrama drives a rollicking cover of Gone with The Wind (Is My Love), a Northern Soul deep trim that was once recorded by Gloria Jones, the singer who cut the original version of Tainted Love in 1964. It’s a cute full circle moment for Almond, and another career highlight.

Ahead of a move of festivals and a headline present at Rochester Castle (7th July) Soft Cell’s Marc Almond has called for people within the LGBTQ+ group to “be kinder to each other."
During a discussion with virginradio.co.uk, Marc opened up about the cracks in the support he's seen within the Gay community, particularly online.
He explained: "I observe, especially through social media, divisions amongst our own people – be kinder to each other and realise that only through standing together can we hold onto the gains we include made and secure a better nature for everyone.
"Every generation struggles not only to find their place but a context. I comprehend older gay people who are still not out, unable to embrace this changing world, unfamiliar with this modern openness, their closets sealed shut by decades of shame or abuse. Attempt to see the world from their point of view too, you might learn something about your own past."

He first began performing and in the synthpop and new wave duo Soft Cell, before having a diverse career as a solo artist.
